Shrub of 3 - 7 m. Evergreen, shiny, dark green leaves. The first flowers appear after 3 - 4 years. The fruit is a red drupe with 2 seeds. Can be grown as a houseplant in temperate climates.
CULTIVATION: sow in substrate at 25 - 28ºC. Warm climates, does not tolerate frost. Needs partial shade. Pruned to 2 - 3 m to encourage branching and facilitate harvesting of beans. Seasonal flowering: in humid weather.
